Naked Earth Yoga is based out of the outdoor adventure town of East Burke, Vermont, with natural locations serving as the ultimate yoga studio for our classes. Naked Earth Yoga classes are held throughout Vermont’s beautiful Northeast Kingdom on lakes, fields, parks and trails.

Naked Earth Yoga offers Stand Up Paddle Board Yoga (SUP) classes, Ashtanga-inspired fitness yoga classes, Yoga for Runners & Fitness Walkers, Snowshoe Yoga and gentle yoga classes.


Naked Earth Yoga Owner/Instructor, Julie Tower-Pierce, RYT 200, is a registered Yoga Alliance Instructor and Paddlefit Level 2 Certified Instructor.  She practiced sun salutes in high school, without realizing there was actually a name for what she was doing–yoga.  Julie later walked into her first yoga class in 1998, while hoping to find a little R&R during law school.  She realized she was head over heels in love with yoga when she discovered how calm, centered and empowered she felt after that first practice.

Julie practiced on and off the mat, until 2012, when she found her way to Ashtanga yoga. She completed her 200 teacher training at Yoga Vermont with Kathy McNames, and continues to study with Kathy.  Julie is honored to have studied with many other inspiring teachers, including David Swenson, Sri Dharma Mittra, Krishna Peter Perry, and Aiyana Athenian.

Looking to bring yoga and paddleboarding to the water in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom, Julie completed SUP yoga teacher training at Moondala Yoga and completed Brode Welte’s Paddlefit Level 2 Certified Instructor training program with paddleboard legends Brent Ackland and John Denney.  Julie is also World Paddleboard Association (WPA) Class 1 Certified.

Julie is a native Vermonter and mother of four young children.
